Eric’s “entrustment ceremony” letter to Bex
November 14th, 2008
Dear Bex,
I do not make this commitment to your baby boy without fully understanding the import of my words and the gravity of such a covenant. And I wish to declare to you that I, Eric Winston Ludy, covenant to love your boy as bone of my bone and shower my fullest fatherly affections upon him. I commit to serving little Kipling Joel Anthony as a young prince in my household, to raise him in the fear and the admonition of the Lord Jesus Christ, and wrestle with unrelenting persistence until the full calling of God upon His life is realized.
Bex, in adopting your baby boy, I declare that the blessings of my household are his to enjoy and partake of. And I covenant to attend to the needs of his growing body, his curious mind, and his hungry soul. And I pronounce that in adopting this little boy, that I’m also adopting his very particular life battles as a result of my covenant affection and my loving promise to him. And in these forthcoming battles, I pledge to not just support his arm, but I will stand as a lifelong intercessor, fighting feverishly alongside him until victory is achieved.
With epic expectations,
Eric
